Symcor’s Customer Privacy Statement
The nature of Symcor's business requires that we handle and process the Personal Information of our customers' clients in accordance with the services we have been contracted to provide. We recognize the importance of privacy and what it means to our customers and, as such, we adhere to the following key principles:
As a key supplier to our customers and an extension of their client relationships, we take our responsibilities to protect the Personal and confidential Information under our control very seriously. In order to ensure that privacy is part of our corporate culture, we have a fully dedicated Privacy Office, headed by our Chief Privacy Officer who is accountable for overseeing the organization's compliance with the principles set out in the Privacy Statement found on this website.
A key element of the Privacy Office's mandate is to assist our customers in meeting their obligations under privacy legislation that is applicable to their business. Should a customer have unique privacy requirements, we will work with them to determine what, if any, assistance is required or can be provided to assist them in meeting their needs.
The nature of the information we collect or receive from our customers may vary but generally includes personal and financial information about our customers' clients such as names, addresses, account numbers, account balances, and transaction history. We do not acquire or accept any information directly from our customers' clients.
To further safeguard our customer's personal and confidential information, we request that only the data necessary to fulfill the services requested be supplied to us. We understand that such information is sensitive and we take appropriate steps to protect it and to ensure that it is handled in accordance with our Privacy Statement or as otherwise communicated at the time a business relationship is established with Symcor. We do not retain our customers' client information longer than is required for the business purpose for which it is provided or to meet regulatory and/or other legal requirements. The personal and confidential information that we receive is collected by fair and lawful means and we will never use, sell or lease information for any other purpose than for the reasons it was supplied to us.
When Symcor collects or receives personal and confidential information from our customers, we do not verify the accuracy of this information. We rely on our customers to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the information that has been supplied to us to perform the business processing services we have been contracted to provide. If Symcor were to receive a request from an individual client of one of our customers who wished to access their Personal Information or verify its accuracy, we would direct the individual to our customer (their service provider). We will also assist our customers wherever possible in responding to individual access requests.
We understand that privacy and data security are critical issues for our customers and we are committed to protecting the personal and confidential information under our control. In addition to our robust privacy practices, we use strong physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and protect the information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration or destruction.
We have established comprehensive physical and logical security policies and procedures to address methods and practices for the secure access, storage, transmission and disposal/destruction of information. Our security policies and standards are specifically derived from and mapped to the Industry-recognized standards.
We continually monitor our business processes and services to ensure we remain compliant with our responsibility to safeguard the privacy of the information entrusted to us by our customers. Protecting privacy has been and continues to be a constant focus for our management team, our employees, our operations and our Privacy Office.
We reserve the right to change this Privacy Statement, and any of our policies or procedures, without prior notice. Any changes to our Privacy Statement will become effective upon posting of the revised Statement on the Internet, accessible through this website.
